A decorative, contemporary Chinese bottle shaped table lamp with a sea green celadon glaze. Celadon has a traditional Chinese relationship to jade, considered by the Chinese as the most noble of all gems and known in Chinese as Yu, meaning treasure.
The name, celadon, in ceramic terms, refers to glaze colours from deep brown to yellow, but normally seen in the green range of colours. The name, celadon, is derived from 18th France, the term denoted a pale willow-green colour named after Chelation, the hero of D'Urfes's drama, Astree, who wore a pale green cape.
