A decorative pair of contemporary, Chinese cinnabar lamps of bottle shape. The cinnabar deeply carved in reserve with floral subjects of peony and chrysanthemum flowers and foliage.
The ground carved with flower head and tendril panels. The long history of Chinese culture has produced a great number of original and distinctive artistic styles and one of these is Cinnabar lacquer ware.
Quickly recognized by its distinctive red colour and sometimes referred to as sealing wax red, cinnabar has been used artistically in China for over 1000 years. The lamps seated in Chinese black lacquered bases, the lamp caps black lacquered. The lamps shown with a black silk shade suggestion.
