A very pretty pair of late 19th century, Chinese, cloisonné, hexagonal jars and covers. The base construction of the jars lined in Chinese silver, or Pak Tong. The silver base overlaid with finely applied cloisonné enamel in a "Kingfisher" ground colour.
The six sided jars and covers decorated in polychrome enamels with delicate floral subjects, bamboo, orchids, camellias etc.
The subjects stylised, rather than botanical. The Pak Tong lined base of the shapes producing a light, delicate look to the cloisonné. The jars seated in their original, Chinese, carved, hexagonal bases.
The jars, covers and bases, all in undamaged condition. It is quite rare to acquire a pair like this, with all six original component pieces in fine condition, although the silver has oxidised.
