A tall, understated, contemporary classic Chinese stoneware, celadon, bottle shaped lamp.  The lamp with a particularly beautiful, semi translucent, delicate sea green, craquelle glaze. Celadon has a traditional Chinese relationship to jade, considered by the Chinese as the most noble of all gems and known in Chinese as Yu, meaning treasure. The name, celadon, in ceramic terms, refers to glaze colours ranging from deep brown to yellow, but normally seen in the green range of colours.

The name, celadon, is derived from 18th France, the term denoted a pale willow-green named after Chelation, the hero of D'Urfes's drama, Astree, who wore a pale green cape. 

The bottle shape with it’s bulbous belly and dramatically long neck, both slender and round, embodies the spirit of yin and yang, combining harmonious matching opposite in one silhouette.  In addition, this shape in Chinese, is known as Tian Qiu Ping, or heaven and earth shape.  The shape symbolising the ancient belief the the heaven was round and the earth was square.

The lamp seated in a custom made, American maple wood base, water gilded with 23k gold to a burnished glow.  The bronze, custom made lamp cap, gold plated.  The lamp shown with a gold silk shade suggestion.  The lamp with a weight of 4.5 kg / 9.9 lbs.
