F074 A Large Pair Of Contemporary Chinese Bottle Shaped Lamps In Pale Celadon Glaze

A very decorative, large pair of classic contemporary, Chinese, bottle shaped lamps. The lamps with a delicate monochrome celadon glaze. 

Chinese decorative art is highly symbolic and these bottle shapes symbolise the Chinese philosophic concept of Yin and Yang which seeks for harmony and balance.

The bottle shape with its bulbous belly and long neck, combine both slender and round, so producing the harmony and balance found by combining these matching opposites.  In addition, this shape in Chinese, is known as Tian Qiu Ping, or heaven and earth shape.  The shape symbolising the ancient belief the the heaven was round and the earth was square. 

The lamps seated in custom made ball foot bases, the bases matte gold plated in ormolu style.  The lamp caps matte gold plated.  The lamps with a weight of 11lbs/5kgs each. 

These classic lamps can take their place with sophisticated ease in a traditional or modern interior.  The lamps shown with a pleated, celadon silk shade suggestion.
