The lamps with faux candles and matte gold plated candle caps.  The lamps seated in custom made, bronze, matte gold plated lamp bases, the bases with a black enamel trim.  The lamps wired with 25w lamp holders.

The Egyptian revival:-  Art Deco began in Paris in the early years of the 20th century, however, it was Howard Carter's 1922 discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb which sparked the development of the Art Deco Egyptian revival movement.  It was then that there was a sudden rush of interest in ancient Egyptian art which became known as "Egyptomania".

The Art Deco movement was in full swing and Egyptian decorative motifs would become an integral part of the language of Art Deco, a style that dominated the decorative arts until the late 30‘s.  The Art Deco Egyptian revival was a globally popular style and affected many areas of design.  It was used in a wide array of products such as ceramics, fashion , textiles and jewellery and had a heavy influence on architecture and interior design.

This outstanding pair of Art Deco, Egyptian revival lamps are rare and lamps of this type as matched pairs are particularly difficult to acquire, with damages and losses over the past hundred years having greatly reduced the available examples.  These smart lamps have a distinctive Deco jewel-like quality about them.  The lamps shown with black pleated, silk lamp shades.
