F053 An Elegant French Sceaux, Marcel Renson Lamp, Art Deco Era - Circa 1925

A tall, slender and very elegant, French earthenware lamp of the Art Deco era.  The lamp with a pinwheel decoration in powder blue, French Navy-blue and black on an off-white, craquelle ground.  This pinwheel device is repeated 4 times around the circumference of the lamp.

The lamp made by Marcel Renson, a well known Art Deco artist situated at Sceaux.   Sceaux had a vigorous artistic commune, situated in the southern suburbs of Paris in the 1920's.  Sceaux is located about 10 km or 6 miles, from the very centre of Paris.

Art Deco is an eclectic, artistic design style that began in Paris in the 1920’s.   It flourished internationally throughout the 1920’s and 30’s.  The style influenced all areas of design including fashion, architecture and interior design.  The lamp shown with a pleated, Royal Blue, silk shade suggestion.

Art Deco is distinguished by its linear symmetry as seen in the design of this lamp and was a sudden shift from the flowing curves of its Art Nouveau predecessor.
