"All women desire a Mr Darcy. Unfortunately, all men have no idea who that is."
A charming vintage, Italian, tôle ware chestnut urn shaped accent lamp, or task light. The lamp decorated with a cream ground. The cover and base of the lamp painted with a classical olive leaf border. The sides of the lamp base with gilded lions' masks with ring handles.
The lamp decorated with pastel shaded, dancing couples dressed in Regency style, 1811-1820 and certainly bringing Jane Austen to mind!
Could this be the scene following Mr Darcy’s invitation to Elizabeth? Mr. Darcy: “If you are not otherwise engaged, would you do me the honour of dancing the next with me, Miss Bennet?" (Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice).
Please see the French Regency engraving for the source decoration of this pretty, little, tôle lamp. The lamp illustrated with a fine knife pleated ivory silk lamp shade suggestion. The lamp designed for a 25w lamp socket.
Accent lamps are designed to produce a mood a look or feel in a room, rather than providing a major source of light in a space. In general, an accent lamp is a relatively small lamp, with usually no more than a maximum height of about 20"/50cm including the lamp shade. Accent lamps also serve as decorative accents within a room.
