An elegant, vintage Italian, Richard Ginori, urn shaped table lamp with domed cover. The lamp with a royal blue ground colour, reserved, in the white, with two large rococo revival, gilded C scroll reserves.
The shaped reserves painted in monochrome mulberry enamel with delicately painted Tuscan rural scenes of farmhouses set in forested landscapes. The decoration includes two smaller rural views in reserve and two reserved subjects of roses, buds and rose leaves. The reserves framed with a finely gilded outline.
The domed cover of the lamp painted, in reserve, with roses and buds. The lamp seated in a custom cast, matte gold plated stand. The lamp shown with a pleated, navy blue, silk shade suggestion.
Italy has a long respected reputation for excellence in design with contemporary names like Armani, Gucci, Ginori & Versace. The house of Ginori was established in 1735 by the Marchese Carlo Ginori, (1702-1757), with Ginori's first porcelain manufactory located at Doccia, near Florence.
The company remained in the hands of the Ginori heirs until 1896 when it was incorporated into the Richard of Milan company as Richard-Ginori. Today, the Richard-Ginori company produce a fine range of Italian porcelain. The company have a purpose built museum to display an historic collection of Doccia/Richard-Ginori porcelain. This elegant and very decorative lamp is included in its collection. The Ginori company finally closed in 2013.
