A very handsome, large English vintage, dark blue Wedgwood jasper, Campana urn and cover as a lamp. The cover surmounted by a spear-tip shaped finial with formal, moulded and applied, stylized stiff leaves radiating from the base of the finial.
The Campana shape with a moulded acanthus leaf border. The lamp with two principal white jasper bas relief subjects derived from classical Greek antiquity. The front of the lamp, Sacrifice to harvest and Ceres, goddess of the harvest, orchards and crops. The reverse side, The offering to peace.
The urn in classic Vaso Campana shape derived from early Greek Krater type vases, (an inverted bell shape with two side handles at the shoulder). The lamp on a circle base mounted on a square dark blue, high jasper base. The lamp and cover seated in a very fine, custom made, stepped bronze, gold plated base. The lamp shown with a pleated, ivory silk shade suggestion.
