An outstandingly pretty pair of antique French provincial faience, antique candlestick lamps. The cream glazed earthenware lamps painted in the traditional manner of 18th century French country faience. The oval shaped bases, candle stick columns and drip pans painted in the spontaneous freehand style of French faience painters. The decorative subject of summer garden flowers including, roses, tulips, daises and blue bells.
The combination of the cream glazed candle sticks, the magenta outlines and country style flower painting, producing an exceptionally pretty pair of accent lamps of great charm. The faux candles fitted with gold plated, custom made candle caps. The lamps designed for 25w lamp holders. The base of one of the lamps marked "France" in black. This mark was used between 1895 and 1915. Perfect as buffet lamps for a sideboard. The lamps shown with a pleated, dusky pink, silk shade suggestion.
