"I like to change. A new lamp, a piece of art, can transform a room." Madonna Ciccone.
An American Hollywood Regency, Egyptian Revival style, ultra smart lamp by Frederick Cooper. The lamp represents the geometric designs of the 1930-1940 period, known as the “Streamlined Modern Style”. The Hollywood Regency style emerged in the 1930s and blended American modernism with neoclassicism, its introduction is attributed to William Haines, a Hollywood actor turned interior designer.
The style was made popular in the movies in the 1930's and 1940's and was seen in the homes of many Hollywood actors of the day. The style was influenced by Regency period furniture, blending the classic lines into the streamlined modern interiors of the 1930’s. It was, in fact, a continuation and development of the Art Deco, decorative arts style.
