A stunning bright canary-yellow, navette shaped, accent lamp. The lamp produced for Mottahedeh by the Portuguese company of Vista Alegre. The lamp in the 19th century style of the bright yellow, glazed earthenware produced by the famous French pottery of Creil Montereau. The lamp printed in fine detail with two, charming, French country, black stippled prints in neo classic style. The lamp sides with moulded lion head masks.
The oval prints framed with pearl string borders. The front of the lamp entitled in French "L'été" - summer. The subject of reapers with sickles, reaping and binding sheaves of wheat. The reverse side with a subject entitled in French "L'Hiver" - winter, the subject of children gathering fallen wood for a blazing fire.
The oval prints supported by classical motifs of ribbon tied swags of fruiting vine, the borders of the lamp top and oval base printed with a border of grape leaf and fruit, the rims with a black line border.
Mottahedeh:- Rafi and Mildred Mottahedeh were avid collectors of porcelain and established the Mottahedeh Porcelain Company in the 1950’s. Mottahedeh commissioned its beautifully decorated porcelains to be made by Portuguese and Italian companies. Mottahedeh is today, a recognised leader in luxury antique reproductions and has produced porcelain for the US President, the US State Department and the American Diplomatic Corps.
